Our Story: The History of the Rockford F.I.R.E.
In 1993, Lois Dixon, together with a group of like-minded families, established Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops (Hallstrom) to support local homeschooling families by offering upper-level classes for those seeking additional academic assistance. Over the years, Hallstrom has continued to grow as more families choose home education for their children. Building on the foundation of Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops, Rockford F.I.R.E. was launched to give eligible local homeschool students the opportunity to participate in athletics, including girls’ volleyball, boys’ basketball, and girls’ basketball. The Rockford F.I.R.E. has been serving homeschool athletes and families for decades, and we are committed to continuing this tradition for many more years to come.
"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep. Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they shall not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate." (Psalm 127)
