Rockford F.I.R.E. Girls' Basketball

General Information:

Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops offers middle school and high school girls' basketball teams. We are a cooperative faith-centered program that relies on parent volunteer participation to run the program well and to keep fees affordable for all.

  •  Junior High: 6th through 8th grade
  • High School: 9th through 12th grade

Students are not required to enroll in a Hallstrom academic class to participate in a Rockford F.I.R.E. sports team. Tryouts may be conducted and are at the A.D. and coaches' discretion.

Eligibility:

All players must be home-schooled for at least 51% of their current education.

Because F.I.R.E. prioritizes and values education, we expect all eligible athletes to avoid academic probation by: • maintaining grades of 70% or higher • maintaining a 75% or higher attendance record for Hallstrom classes and/or other similar classes hosted by other organizations.

Once a student has been listed as a ninth grader, that student will be limited to the next four consecutive seasons of participation. A tenth-grade student has three more seasons of participation. An eleventh-grade student has two more seasons of participation. A twelfth-grade student has one season to participate. Any student reaching the age of 19 before August 1, shall not be eligible for participation in Rockford F.I.R.E. sports.

Once a student has graduated or gone through a graduation ceremony, he/she will no longer qualify for a Rockford F.I.R.E. sports team regardless of his/her age.

Any student who is under disciplinary action and transfers from a public, private, or another home school program/co-op must wait one year before he/she is eligible to participate in Rockford F.I.R.E. sports. Sports physicals are required by all players and are only good for 395 days. Player sports physicals must be submitted to the team athletic director before the player can begin practicing with their team.

Practices:  Practice times and dates are TBD.

Fees:

Families who only participate in sports pay a $180 annual registration fee. For families enrolled in Hallstrom classes, this fee is already included in the semester registration. Uniforms are provided on loan, at no additional charge, for the season and must be returned on time at the end of the season to avoid any additional charge. Athletic fees are separate and cover all regular season games. Athletic fees are due in two installments, with half being due on Oct. 1st and the remainder due on Nov. 1st.

Athletic fees cover all regular season games. Transportation and food costs are not included.

  • Middle School Athletic Fee: $300
  • High School Athletic Fee: $450

Donations:

Along with the recurring costs including facilities, referees, and many other expenses, there are start-up costs such as uniforms, basketballs, etc. To keep the program reasonably affordable for families, we are seeking support in the way of donations. If you can help make this program possible, please consider participating in our fundraising efforts or donating.
